One-two for the AF Corse Motorola Ferrari F 430 at Monza

Fourth round of the FIA GT Championship at Monza and fourth victory for the AF Corse Motorola Team in the GT2 class. The race was won by the crew of Bruni-Ortelli, whose car crossed the line ahead of that of their team-mates, Vilander-Muller. Third past the chequered flag was the Ferrari F430 GT of Ruberti-Pasini thus completing an all-Ferrari podium. For the record, the GT1 class saw the win go to the Wendlinger-Sharp Aston Martin ahead of the Montanari-Ramos Maserati and the Corvette driven by Hezemans-Deletraz. The next round of the championship takes place on 8 July at Oschersleben (Germany.)
“I am very happy to have taken my first FIA GT win in what was a very closely fought race right from the start. I thank the team and Stephane for doing a great job,” said Gianmaria Bruni, as he stepped off the podium.
“I dedicate this win to Gimmi who did most of the work today, but above all because it is his first win in a car with a roof,” commented Stephane Ortelli.”
“The car was perfect, we had a great race pace and I am very happy,” added Dirk Muller, second despite carrying 78 kilos of ballast. “It is very satisfying to have three wins and a second from the first four races of the championship. It is simply fantastic. The car went very well and in the opening laps, I didn’t push much to avoid any collisions and fights. With our race pace, I knew we could climb back up. Thanks to the team for yet again today giving me a car that was perfect to drive.”
Toni Vilander: “I am a little bit disappointed with my stint in the race when I lost out slightly in traffic, passing backmarkers. Maybe we could have won, but first and second for the AF Corse Motorola Team is a great result.”
